Frequently asked questions
CHOOSING A SERVICE
Embroidery or DTF — which is right for me?
EMBROIDERY if you want a premium, tactile finish that lasts years.
It works best on clean, bold designs — logos, monograms, uniforms, and workwear.
If you can feel the quality the moment you pick it up, that's embroidery doing its job
DTF if your artwork has full colour, gradients, fine lines, or photographic detail.
It's the more versatile option — works across a wider range of fabrics and garment types, and handles complex artwork without restriction.
Not sure? Send it through and we'll point you in the right direction.
Can I use both on the same order?
Yes — and it's a great combination.
A stitched chest logo with a printed back graphic is one of the most popular mixed-media setups.
GARMENTS & SUITABILITY
What types of garments can be decorated?
EMBROIDERY works best on stable, structured fabrics — cotton, poly-cotton blends, fleece, canvas, and denim.
It's commonly used on shirts and polos (180gsm+ recommended), hoodies, crews, hats, headwear, socks, sports towels, uniforms, workwear, and totes.
DTF works on a wide range of fabrics — cotton, polyester, blends, fleece, and performance materials.
Suitable for t-shirts, hoodies, crews, activewear, workwear, and hats — on both light and dark garments.
Is it suitable for stretch or performance fabrics?
For EMBROIDERY, highly stretchy or technical fabrics can be challenging.
We'll advise if your garment isn't well-suited and suggest an alternative.
DTF transfers are flexible and designed to move with the fabric — making them a strong choice for stretch and performance garments when applied correctly.
For best results on performance fabrics, we recommend our Premium DTF Transfers.
Can you print on sublimated or sports jersey fabrics?
Yes — but these require our PREMIUM DTF Transfer with Dye-Blocker to prevent colour migration.
Formulated specifically for heavily dyed synthetics, sublimated fabrics, and soft-shell garments.
Clean result, no bleed.
ARTWORK & FILES
What file formats do you accept?
Vector files are preferred — AI, EPS, or SVG with clean paths and outlined fonts.
High-resolution PNG at 300dpi with a transparent background is also accepted.
Files are produced as supplied, so please check your artwork carefully before sending.
Are there design limitations?
For EMBROIDERY, very small text, fine lines, and photographic imagery don't translate well to thread.
Clean, bold, well-defined artwork performs best.
If your design isn't embroidery-suitable, we'll flag it early and suggest adjustments — or recommend DTF instead.
DTF has very few limitations.
It handles full-colour artwork, gradients, photographic designs, and fine detail without restriction.
It's the more versatile option for complex artwork.
Any important things to check before sending files?
For EMBROIDERY, all fonts must be outlined or converted to curves — this prevents font mismatches.
Keep in mind that saving a file with a vector extension doesn't automatically make it a vector.
Very small text and fine detail may not stitch cleanly.
For DTF, remove any backgrounds not intended as part of the design.
PNG files require a transparent background.
Files are printed as supplied — what you send is what gets printed.
How big can my design be?
For EMBROIDERY, our Tajima has a maximum sewing field of 36cm × 50cm (14" × 20") — large enough for full-back designs, jacket backs, and oversized bags.
For caps and headwear, the maximum cap field is 7.5cm × 36cm (3" × 14").
We'll advise if a size isn't practical or comfortable to wear.
For DTF, we can press transfers up to 40cm × 50cm (16" × 20") — covering full-front, full-back, and large statement pieces.
For oversized or unusual placements, contact us before ordering to discuss options.
COLOURS & FINISH
How many colours can I use?
For EMBROIDERY, up to 15 thread colours per design.
For DTF, there's no limit — full colour, gradients, and photographic imagery all print without restriction.
What thread colours are available for embroidery?
We stock a wide range of Madeira thread colours — classic, bright, and neutral tones.
If you have a specific colour in mind, provide your Pantone code and we'll match as closely as possible, flagging any limitations before production begins.
Can you match my brand colours exactly?
For EMBROIDERY, we match as closely as possible using professional thread charts and Pantone references.
Thread colour is a physical match — minor variation from digital references is normal.
We flag any limitations before production.
For DTF, we aim to match brand colours as closely as possible.
As with all digital printing, minor variation can occur depending on fabric colour and material.
For critical brand colours, supply Pantone references where you can.
What does the finished decoration feel like?
EMBROIDERY is tactile and textured — raised thread with real depth.
A premium finish you can feel the moment you pick it up.
Available in flat (clean and classic) and 3D puff (structured and raised — best on headwear and heavier fabrics).
Standard DTF has a smooth, slightly raised finish.
Premium hybrid transfers have a softer, more screen-print-like feel that moves naturally with the fabric.
MINIMUMS & ORDERS
Is there a minimum order quantity?
For EMBROIDERY, the minimum is 12 pieces for each new design, per size.
If you need fewer than 12 pieces, a small run fee of $50 applies — this covers the additional setup time for a short run.
Reorders of the same design and size have no minimum and no small run fee.
For Standard DTF, there is no minimum — order as little as one piece.
Premium hybrid and dye-blocking transfers have a minimum of 20 units per image per size.
For Sports & Teamwear transfers, contact us to confirm requirements.
Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?
Yes — for orders of 100 units or more across both services, wholesale pricing applies.
Get in touch via email or submit a wholesale quote through the website.
Pricing and turnaround are confirmed based on your specific requirements.
Can I reorder the same design later?
For EMBROIDERY, yes — we securely store your digitised stitch file so reorders are fast, consistent, and cost-effective.
No repeat digitising fee and no minimum quantity for reorders of the exact same design and size.
For DTF, yes — your print-ready files are kept on record for easy reordering.
Can I get a sample before full production?
For EMBROIDERY, a sample stitch-out can be arranged for each new custom digitised design once the order is placed and payment is finalised.
This must be requested — it isn't our standard process.
Shipping fees apply and will be invoiced before proceeding.
Sample turnaround is 1–2 weeks plus shipping.
Main production begins after sample approval.
For DTF, samples aren't standard.
For most orders, the mock-up approval step before production gives you a clear picture of placement and sizing before anything is pressed.
If you have a specific need, get in touch to discuss.
PRICING
How is pricing calculated?

CARE & LONGEVITY
How durable is the decoration?
EMBROIDERY is the most durable decoration method available.
A stitched design won't crack, peel, or fade.
DTF prints are washable and built for regular wear.
Premium hybrid transfers are rated to 75+ washes and won't crack or peel like traditional vinyl.
With proper care, results hold up well over time.
How should I care for my decorated garment?"
For both EMBROIDERY and DTF, machine wash cold, inside out, with a mild detergent.
Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
For EMBROIDERY, line dry where possible — high heat can affect thread tension over time.
Do not dry clean.
For DTF, avoid high heat when drying and do not iron directly over the transfer.
Treat it right and it'll last.
